I’d say 7-9 is pretty damn good for having a rookie QB, rookie head coach, no AP, highest paid lineman on the team was out all year and one of the youngest defenses in football! Few remember that AP got them and to the playoffs on a 10-6 record with one of minnesotas worse starting QBs (Christain Ponder).
I’m sorry, but 7-9 is not good, no matter what the reasons/excuses. I think there is reason for (cautious) optimism in Minnesota. I do think Bridgewater will be an above average QB and maybe even a really good or even great QB but it’s way too early to tell.
I also think Zimmer may be a really good head coach, but again, it’s way too early to tell. I think their talent level is increasing but you can’t judge a draft pick until 2 or 3 years after he was drafted. Getting rid of Jennings may have been a huge mistake. I don’t know much about Wallace. I understand him to be very talented but maybe a bit of a head case. He could go either way. Great pickup or horrible pickup. Who knows what Patterson will do too. Hugely talented but so far he’s been not good.
You have reason to be optimistic and optimistic is good. But delusional is not good and many, many of your fellow Viking fans are downright delusional and have been for several years. Every time they’ve changed QBs or head coaches, which has been several times in a fairly short span of years, the old guy was garbage and the new guy was the greatest of all time.
Every off season, we hear the same nonsense. “The dynasty starts now! The Packers’ window is closing! We’re taking over the division and going to win multiple Super Bowls! Greatest coach ever! Greatest QB of all time! Best draft ever!”
It borders on insanity. It really does. And I’m sorry, but if you don’t see that, you may wish to consult a mental health professional as well.
I can have all the reasonable and sensible discussions about the NFCN as anybody wants to have. But when the delusional yahoos jump in, it’s going to go sour.
